Funeral Services for Jim, will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 8, 2014, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, with Pastor Tim Morgan conducting the services. Friends may call at the funeral home at 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, August 7. Burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials in Jim’s name have been designated to: Newton United Way, Jasper County Red Cross or Willowbrook Adult Day Services.
James “Jim” Ted Jagau, 59, the son of Herman Jagau Jr. and Marilyn Jane “Lawless” Jagau, was born December 8, 1954, in Newton. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School, Class of 1973. He had received his Bachelor of Business Degree from the University of Tulsa.
Jim was employed by the gas & oil industry in Tulsa and Colorado, prior to moving back to Newton in 2006. He was employed as a Credit Analyst for U.S. Bank in Newton. He had devoted his life to his family and friends, and was very active in community service. He enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes, music and traveling. His world adventures and love for the music took him to many countries, many times as a groupie. He served as a member of the United Way Board, and served the Red Cross and at Willowbrook.
Jim died Saturday evening, August 2, 2014, in Newton, and was preceded in death by his father Herman on April 15, 2010. Jim will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Those left to honor Jim’s memory include his mother Marilyn J. Jagau of Newton; his sister Connie Jagau, also of Newton; and his many, many friends.
