Obituary of Kay A Matson
Kay Geddes Matson, the daughter of John and Ellen (Crabtree) Geddes was born on March 7, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa, Kay grew up the middle of three girls on their family’s farm in rural NE Polk County. Her passion for cultivating the land and love for family was evident at an early age and was a theme throughout her life.
Kay placed her trust in Jesus as her Savior at a young age and grew in her faith and relationship with Christ and her life’s work and passions were fueled by her faith. After teaching for a few years at Pioneer Christian School in Bassett, Nebraska, Kay was united in marriage to Larry Matson on June 6, 1982 in Altoona, Iowa. After helping Larry through seminary training in Greenville, South Carolina, they started in full time ministry at Berean Baptist Church in Florissant, Colorado.
While Kay was heavily involved in the ministries of the church and community service, her greatest joy was rearing and teaching her four children. Kay homeschooled all of her children from Kindergarten to high school graduation and continued to love teaching in a multitude of ways after her children were all grown. This continuation of love carried on to her grandchildren, whom she deeply held in her heart.
