Deborah Boyer-Rivet, 56, formerly of Newton, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 31, 2014, at her home in Atwater, California. After a long battle with an Auto Immune Liver Disease, which she fought hard.
A Time of Remembrances for Deb will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 15, 2014, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton and interment will be held at the Sugar Grove (Metz) Cemetery in rural Newton, next to her father and two brothers. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services, with the family. In lieu of flowers memorials have been designated in Deb’s name.
Deborah Evelyn Boyer-Rivet, the daughter of Yvonne (Flowers) Vaughn (Philip) and Ray Boyer (Arlene), was born August 22, 1958, in Homestead, Florida. She attended many schools in Florida, England and California, as her father was in the Air Force. She graduated from the Baxter, IA Senior High, Class of 1976, and attended a year of college. Deb was employed in Newton by Diamond-Vogel and at the Jasper County Care Facility. Moving to California, Deb worked for Farmers Insurance for fifteen years, then as a tax preparation specialist for H&R Block. Deb had devoted her life to her family and friends, and was an avid NASCAR fan and loved photography. A beloved friend, daughter, mother and Nana, she will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Deb was preceded in death by her father Ray Boyer; brothers: Daryl Ray and Dean Boyer; and a grandson Trenton Capps.
Those left to honor Deb’s memory include her three beautiful daughters: Trina Capps, Whitney Rivet and Samantha Hutchings (Jeremy); her five grandchildren; brother Phillip Vaughn II (Shannon) of Merced, CA; and two sisters: Wendy McGuire (Cameron) of Johnston and Mendy Ward (Tim) of Sycamore, IL; her mother Yvonne Vaughn (Philip)of Merced; her very special friend and caregiver, Rob Amborn of Atwater, CA, whom without in her life she would not have survived as long as she did. Many thanks to Nancy Millen, who was a great help and friend to Deb, until the very end. Deb is also survived by her step-mother Arlene Boyer of Newton; brothers and sisters: Craig Adams (Betty) of Grinnell and Brad Adams (Gina) of Newton, Cindy Corbett (Ron) of Marengo and Traci Martin of Des Moines; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
