Obituary of Robert Clayton Lint

Robert C. Lint Newton Memorial services for Robert C. Lint, 85, of Newton, Iowa, will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 2, 2014, at First Christian Church in Newton. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. A visitation with the family will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6 p.m., Sunday, June 1, at the church. Robert Clayton Lint, the son of Rex Clayton and Thelma Grace (Shankland) Lint, was born May 10, 1929, in Newton. He graduated from the Newton Senior High, Class of 1949. He served his country in the US Military, during the Korean conflict. Robert was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Carter, on January 3, 1963, in Unionville, Missouri. He was employed by the Maytag Company in for 31 years, retiring in 1983, as an inspector in the Machining Department. He also worked part time for Watter Brothers Lumber. Bob devoted his life to his wife and family; he loved spending time with his family and friends. His interests included attending car races, golf, country music, hunting, fishing, traveling, and was a handy man and carpenter. He was an avid member of the Newton Izaak Walton League, the First Christian Church, a former "I Club" member, and enjoyed Iowa Football games. Bob died on Wednesday, afternoon, May 28, 2014, at the Newton Health Care. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Sandra Jo in infancy in 1956; his wife Barbara on Feb. 9, 2008; and his grandson Adam Michael Barnett on February 1, 2008. Those left to honor the memory of Bob's include his three daughters and son-in-law Kathy Sanders, Bonnie Barnett (Steve) and Sara Seals, all of Newton, six grandchildren: Elizabeth Sanders, Andrew and Alisha Barnett, Jennifer Goulet, Somer and Nicholas McAlister; five great-grandchildren; his brother Donald Lint (Betty) of Newton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jerry Carter and Shirley, Linda Wilburn and Lester Beyer; several nephews and nieces; and his many good neighbors and friends. Memorials in Robert's name are designated or for Newton Izaak Walton League.
