Obituary of Christopher Lee Jones

Christopher Lee “Chris” Jones, the son of Lester Duane and Mary Kathleen (Clark) Jones, was born April 27, 1969, in Iowa City, Iowa. He graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 1987 and received his associate degree from DMACC. Chris served in the United States Air Force from 1989 until 1992. He worked as an electrical engineer, most recently for Williamsburg Manufacturing. Chris enjoyed his family and helping others, collecting mythical weapons, watching Minnesota Vikings football and painting and embellishing mementos. Chris died on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was 44 years old. Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Clark and George Ronald Jones and Gladys Jones. Those left to honor Chris’ memory include his daughter, Samantha Jones of Des Moines; his sons, Aarron Jones of Newton, Lance Jones of Newton and D.J. Schub of Bridgeport, CA; his granddaughter, Adyson; his father, Lester (Kathy) Jones of Waukee, IA; his mother, Mary Sholley of Perry, IA; his sisters, Gayla Jones of Waukee, Michelle Jones of Adel, Rhonda Ives of Spokane, WA; his brother, Curt (Amy) Jones of Baxter; his grandmother, Theresa Clark of Newton; his many nieces and nephews and his many aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2014, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials in Chris’ name may be left at the funeral home.
