I am so sorry this is so late. I just learned of Bob's passing. Bob was fantastic to me at a time in my life when things were very low. He listened sincerely, he offered advice wholeheartedly and he laughed until I laughed with him. A fantastic guy and a loss for us all. FOYTFAN will be his moniker in my mind forever. Thanks for the smiles, Bob...rest well!

Bob's parents and mine( Jim and Marian Gerlach) were very good friends while I was growing up in Charles City, Iowa. I knew Jimmy and Bob for years and have lost contact with them. My parents take the Charles City Press and we saw Bob in the obituaries. So very sorry for the loss. I have a lot of great memories sharing holidays with the Githens family. Would love to reconnect with Jimmy. My parents are here in Fort Smith, AR and doing well. Would love hearing from you.

Bob was my best friend. We have known each other since 1987. We were besties for about 10 yes before we became romantic. And he was definitely very romantic. He always told me that I was the love of his life. Although things didn't work out between us as a couple, we remained very close. I have many fond memories of Bob and he will ALWAYS hold a part of my heart. He was the kindest and most passionate man that I have ever known. And I will miss him so very much. I LOVE YOU, BOB

I have many fond memories of Bob when we went through confirmation classes at St. Johns Lutheran church in Charles City. I was glad to have the opportunity to visit with him at our reunion. So sad to hear of his passing.

Bob was my first love at Lincoln Elementary School. That lasted a couple months but we remained fast friends all through high school and college, where we both majored in music at UNI. I'm deeply saddened to learn of his passing. I missed our reunion this summer where I could have seen him. I don't know what happened but I'm sorry that he's not with us in this realm.

Bob and I worked together at KCOB back in the 70's until he left radio. Bob and I both loved stock car racing, my dad was a racer, and he took me to several races including Knoxville and the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, where returning back home in May of 1977 we were involved in a serious motorcycle accident. I have great memories of breaking into radio at KCOB working with Bob, Mike James, Vicki Rutz and Mark Hallam. Rest in Peace Bob, somewhere there's a race holding the green flag waiting for you to be there.
