Obituary of Edna Irene Boettcher

Edna Irene Boettcher, the daughter of Louis and Lena (Houseman) Wilkie, was born May 3, 1908 in Marshall County, Iowa. She moved to Pwatonna, Minnesota with her family at the age of 8. On October 14, 1933, Edna was united in marriage with Lloyd Boettcher in Owatonna, Minnesota. They moved to Newton, Iowa in May of 1943. Edna had worked for the Newton Daily News for 15 years in the Bindery Department. She enjoyed sewing and did alterations in her home for many years. Edna was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Newton, teaching Sunday School and serving on the visitation committee. She was a member of the Good Cheer Club, Dorcas and Martha Circle. Edna died on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Home in Estherville, Iowa. She was 100 years old. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, on November 9, 1991; her son Robert Boettcher; her brothers, Harry Wilke, Floyd Wilke and Ralph Wilke; and her sisters, Laura Southworth, Clara Fortwangler, Vera Krause and Freda Pegors. Those left to honor Edna's memory include her daughter, Lavine (Dale) Signs of Estherville, Iowa; her three granddaughter, her six great grandchildren; and her brother, Delmar Wilke of Catskill, New York.
