Obituary of Geraldine Lena Brown

Geraldine Lena Brown, the daughter of John A. Jones and Laura Barron, was born December 27, 1916, in Sherman Township, Iowa. Geraldine worked as a book keeper for many years. On January 23, 1945, she was united in marriage with James Gordon Brown in Waterloo, Iowa. Geraldine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newton, where she was very involved in many areas of ministry. She enjoyed traveling, her volunteer work and bridge clubs. Geraldine died on Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at the Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. She was 91 years old. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James, on July 15, 1987, and a brother, Alfred Jones. Those left to honor Geraldines memory include her son, James G. Brown of Jacksonville, Florida; her grandchildren, Tony Brown, Teiala Long and Sulee Danner; her great grandchildren, Vanessa, Blakelyn, Nicholas, Tristin, Teagan and Maya; her brothers, Barron Jones and Jack Jones; her sister, Harlene Ettelson; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
