Obituary of Wilma Irene Schnathorst

Funeral Services for Wilma I. Schnathorst of Newton, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2010, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Friends may greet family at the funeral home from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 24th. As an expression of sympathy, memorials may be left in Wilma's name. Burial will be in the St. John's Cemetery in rural Newton. Wilma Irene Schnathorst, 89, the daughter of Fye Abner and Anna Marie (Gauch) Buckles, was born September 10, 1920, in Baxter, Iowa. She graduated from the Baxter High School, and graduated from beautician college. On June 4, 1938, Wilma was united in marriage with Lloyd August Schnatorst in Princeton, Missouri. To this union were born six children: Jerald, Janice, Dennis, David, Patricia and Carol. She had devoted her life to her family and friends and was a beautician. Wilma attended St. John's Church and the First Assembly of God Church in Newton. She enjoyed her grandkids, puzzles, reading and gardening. A longtime resident of the rural Baxter area, Wilma left this world on Saturday morning, February 20, 2010 at the Newton Healthcare. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd on April 8, 1977; a daughter-in-law, Sandra; a granddaughter, Denise; a great grandson, Riley; her sister, Wanda Schnell and brother, Bob Buckles. Those left to honor Wilma's memory include her children: Jerald Schnathorst of Carlisle, Iowa, Janice Barber of Des Moines, Iowa, Dennis (Greta) Schnathorst of Newton, David (Pam) Schnathorst of Newton, Patricia (Terry) Otto of Monticello, Iowa, and Carol (Denny) Petty of Gladbrook, Iowa; her nineteen grandchildren and thirty six great-grandchildren; and her many other family and friends.
