Nancy Hammons Newton Memorial funeral services for Nancy Hammons, formerly of Newton, Iowa, will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the services, 1 p.m. till 2 p.m. on Wednesday, at Pence Reese Funeral Home Nancy Hammons, 49, the daughter of William and Thelma Odelene (Greene) Stearns, was born October 23, 1958 in Sanford, Florida. A longtime resident of the Des Moines and Newton, Iowa areas, Nancy was a graduate of the East High School in Des Moines, Class of 1976. She had devoted her life to her children and family. Nancy passed away at her home on Saturday, August 9, 2008 in New Hampton, Iowa. Her father and mother preceded her in death. Those left to honor Nancys memory include her daughters: Monica Hammons of Newton and Melissa Stearns of Oelwein, Iowa; her sons: Richard Hammons of Newton, Cameron Randell and Connor Randell, both of Fredericksburg, Iowa; her seven grandchildren; a brother Ronald Stearns of Jamestown, Rhode Island; a sister Debbie Besson of Mountain View, California; and her many good neighbors and friends. Memorials in Nancys name are being designated, and may be left at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home.
