Obituary of Dorothy Katheryn Eaton

Dorothy Katheryn Eaton, age 89, of 200 - S. 8th Ave. W., Newton died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at USA Healthcare, Newton. Mrs. Eaton was born December 10, 1918 at Ladora, IA the daughter of the late John B. "Jack" and the late Ethel May (Oldfield) Blair. She had devoted her life to her husband and family. During World War II, she was employed by the Maytag Company wartime defense production. She later was employed by the Newton Manufacturing Company's Sample Department. She enjoyed her cats, wildlife, gardening, sewing, crafts, ceramics, family genealogy, and quilting as a member of Helping Hands. She had rescued many baby rabbits and birds, providing a home for them and any and all stray kittens that ventured to her doorstep. Dorothy had submitted several Blue Ribbon winning quilts at the Jasper County Fair. She was employed by Newton Manufacturing as a General Laborer. She is survived by Sister of one sister: Lillian & David Prendergast of Newton, IA and two brothers: Harold Blair of Castle Rock, CO, John & Mary Lou Blair of Paonia, CO Niece, Joyce Prendergast of Newton, IA Predeceased by her Husband, Leon Eaton, sister, Thelma Funk Calling hours will be Thursday from prior to services at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton, IA. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:30 at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton with Rev. Merle Smith officiating. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery, Newton on Thursday at 1:30 pm. Memorials may be made to Jasper County Animal Rescue League
