John George Smith, age 73, of 2437 Wisconsin Street S.W., Cedar Rapids died Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House Of Mercy, Hiawatha.
Mr. Smith was born August 6, 1934 at Fairfield, IA the son of the late Willis A. and the late Frances Ellen (Marshall) Smith. He married Dolores MarieHannagan May 30, 1952 at Lancaster, Missouri.
He served in the Army from 1905 to 1905 during Peace Time war .
He retired from Jasper County Welding as a Welder in 1997.
Mr. Smith was a member of Assembly of God in Newton; First Church of the Open Bible in Cedar Rapids
He is survived by his wife: Dolores Marie(Hannagan) Smith, two daughters: Charlene "Char" Morris of Newton, IA, Robin & Kraig O'Malley of Cedar Rapids, IA and two sons: John & Sharon Smith of Cedar Rapids, IA, Randy & Kristen Smith of Orangevale, CA
Predeceased by his Daughter, Lonnie Sue Smith
Calling hours will be Thursday from Visitation with the family will be from 5 - 7pm at First Church of the Open Bible, , and Friday from Visitation with the family will be from 6 - 8pm at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton, IA. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton with Rev. Charles Stevens officiating.
Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery, Newton on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
