Obituary of Carroll Milton Proctor

Carroll M. Proctor, the son of Ethan Allen and Lou Willie Bradford Proctor, was born August 4, 1933 in Medford, Oregon. Carroll served his country in the U.S. Army, during the Korean Conflict. He received his Masters in Music from Louisiana State University, his Doctorate in Music Arts and PhD in Musicology from the University of Iowa, and a certificate from the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. He sang professionally and taught music in Europe. Carroll taught in several Colleges and Universities in the United States. On October 6, 1994 Carroll was united in marriage with Carol J. Soderblom in Newton. Iowa. They made their home in Newton and Carroll opened a vocal studio. He especially enjoyed mentoring young people. Carroll also enjoyed classical music, gardening, traveling and cooking. Carroll died Friday, January 1, 2010 at the Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center. He was 76 years old. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Darrell Proctor and a sister-in-law, Judy Proctor. Those left to honor Carroll's memory include his wife, Carol Soderblom Proctor of Newton, his brother, Noel B. and Frances Proctor of Corrigan, Texas, several nieces and nephews and his many friends. A memorial concert will be held at a later date. Memorials may be designated to the Hospice of Jasper County.
