Funeral services for Adam Michael Barnett, 25, of Newton, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at the First Christian Church in Newton. Visitation with the family present will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, Feb. 5, at the First Christian Church. Memorials are designated in Adams name to First Christian Church, Christian Conference Center and Dollars for Scholars Scholarship Fund. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
Adam Michael Barnett, the son of Steven Michael and Bonnie Faye (Lint) Barnett, was born January 27, 1983 in Des Moines, Iowa. Adam was a graduate of Newton Senior High School, Class of 2001, and Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa, Class of 2004, with a degree in Professional Music. In 2005, he was certified as an Instrument Repair Technician from Southeast Technical College at Red Wing, Minnesota. He was currently employed at the Maytag Dairy Farm in Newton.
Adam loved his family, friends and his music. He played in The Green River Band, enjoyed the outdoors, building things with his hands, fishing, cooking, disk golf, and was an amateur magician. As a member of the First Christian Church in Newton, he was in the Praise Band, church choir, served as a deacon, was a member of the Newton Municipal Band, an Eagle Scout and attended the Izaak Walton League.
Adam went to be with his Lord on Friday morning, February 1, 2008. He is preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents Herbert and Faye Carter; paternal great-grandfather Ben Myers and paternal great-grandparents, Wallace and Rose Barnett.
Those left to honor Adams memory include his parents Steve and Bonnie Barnett of Newton; brother Andrew Barnett of Newton; sister Alisha Barnett of Newton; paternal grandparents Ray and Jackie Barnett of Newton; maternal grandparents Bob and Barb Lint of Newton; paternal great-grandmother, Norma Myers of Newton; several aunts, uncles, cousins and his many good friends.
