Obituary of Thaddeus W. Hummel

Thaddeus "Thad" Hummel, 42, of Newton, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 3, 2013, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. A Time of Remembrances for Thad, will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at the First Christian Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 7, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, who is entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will be at Dunreath Cemetery rural Monroe. Memorials have been designated in Thad's name. Thaddeus William Hummel, the son of Robert M. and Shirley (Clark) Hummel, was born September 16, 1971, in Knoxville. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High, Class of 1990 and also in 1992, the Universal Technical Institute in Des Moines. A longtime resident of the Newton area, he was employed as a Journeyman Electrician. On June 20, 1998, Thad was united in marriage with Jeanne Lane, and to this union was born his daughter, Anna Nikole, whom he cherished very much. Thad devoted his life to his family and friends, and enjoyed working on cars and was a jack of all trades, master of most. He was very sentimental and tender hearted, and was close to his daughter, mom, sister and brothers. He would do anything for anybody, anytime, day or night. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him. Thad was a kid at heart and liked to play games whether at the casino or board games with Anna, his nieces and nephews, sister, brothers or mom. He was a fun guy; he liked singing karaoke, horseshoes, hunting, fishing and golf. Those left to honor Thad's memory include his daughter Anna Nikole Hummel of Baxter; his mother Shirley Hummel of Newton; sister Miguael (Darin) Hummel-Gulling of Newton; brothers: Brad Hummel and Rob (Tonia) Hummel, all of Newton; his nieces and nephews; many uncles; aunts; and cousins; and his many friends. Thad was preceded in death by his father Robert Hummel in 2004; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
