Lois Jane Hinshaw, 79, passed away Thursday evening, August 22, 2013, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
A Time of Remembrances for Lois, will be held at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, August 29, 2013, at the United Presbyterian Church in Newton. Burial will be at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg. Memorials have been designated in Lois' name, and Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with the arrangements. A time of Fellowship and Tea will follow the Time of Remembrance, with a ROUND TABLE TEA, Thursday at the church.
Lois J. Hinshaw, the daughter of Edward Abraham and Alice Belle (Drake) McNew, was born January 11, 1934, at the Mary Frances Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton. She was the young of five children, and attended the Newton Schools.
On June 13, 1952, Lois was united in marriage with Rev. Robert "Bob" Lawrence Hinshaw in Newton. Lois was a longtime resident of the Kellogg area, and enjoyed her community involvement. She had devoted her life to her family, and was a member of Ashton Chapel for 35 plus years. She was a kind and warm hearted lady who always found the good in everyone.
Those left to honor Lois memory include her five sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Debra Hinshaw of Lawrence, Kansas, Terry and Pam Hinshaw and Tenny and Christine Hinshaw, all of Kellogg, Tracy Hinshaw and Bobbie Russie of Des Moines, and Scott Hinshaw and Colleen Baker, of Pleasant Hill; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Robert Ball of Newton; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a sister Marjorie Belle Eilander (Pastor James) Holmes of Des Moines; brothers-in-law Roger Hinshaw of Newton; sister-in-law Bette Modlin of Kellogg.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Bob on Sept. 19, 2001; and three brothers: Charles, James and Kenneth McNew.
