Obituary of Neil Leonard Chesshire

Neil Leonard Chesshire, the son of Joe Merle and Margaret Lynn (Jeffrey) Chesshire, was born March 15, 1924, in Coin, Iowa. He graduated from the Coin Senior High School. Neil worked as an Area Manager for the Des Moines Register for 25 years and then as owner of the Chevy-Oldsmobile dealership in Grinnell for 10 years. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army in Burma and China. Neil was a member of the First united Methodist Church; the American Legion, Newton Post #111; the V.F.W., Newton Post #1655. Neil died Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He was 85 years old. Neil was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Stephanie. Those left to honor Neil's memory include his sons, Bruce (Susan) Chesshire of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and John (Luanne) Chesshire of Newton, Iowa; his daughters, Jacci (David) Grossenburg of Marshall, Missouri and Jane (Jim) Martin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his 11 grandchildren; his 12 great grandchildren. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be designated to the Newton First United Methodist Church.
