Obituary of Rodney Dee Rupe

Rodney Dee Rupe, 54, of Baxter, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at his home in Baxter, under the care of Skiff Hospice. Visitation with Rodney's family will be Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Baxter Community Center starting at 11 a.m., with a Memorial Service at 4 p.m. Pence - Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with assisting the family. Memorials are being designated in Rodney's name. Rodney, the son of Michael Garth Rupe Sr. and Patsy Joan (Gearhart) Rupe-Monahan, was born January 20, 1959, in Lincoln, NE. He was a graduate of the senior high school in Sioux City, IA. A resident of the Baxter area, Rodney owned and operated Affordable Roofing Company, and also drove truck. He had devoted his life to his family and friends, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, splitting wood and his good neighbors. Those left to honor Rodney's memory include his son Robert Rupe of Baxter; four grandchildren: Rayven, Sephirra, Jacob and Anne; his parents, Michael and Patsy Rupe; his sisters and brothers: Melissa Shinn of Ankeny, Zachary Rupe of Ottumwa, Michael Rupe Jr. of Geneva, AL, and Joshua Rupe of Jefferson City, MO; his girlfriend Tina Conrad; his many nieces and nephews; and his good friends. Rodney was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: John & Pearl Gearhart.
