Obituary of Wilma Rorabaugh

Wilma M. Rorabaugh Of Newton Funeral Services for Wilma, will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton, a visitation with the family will be Monday, Jan. 28, 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Rorabaugh Cemetery, rural Newton. Memorials have been designated in Wilma's name to Skiff Hospice or Newton Village Building Fund. Wilma Rorabaugh, 95, the daughter of Bower Thrap and Martha Edith (Blackwood) Murphy, was born April 15, 1917, in Newton. She had graduated from Newton Senior High, and attended Normal Training. She would teach for five years in area rural schools. On May 29, 1940, Wilma was united in marriage with Rex R. Rorabaugh in Newton. She devoted her life to her husband and family, and attended First United Methodist Church in Newton. She enjoyed her family and community involvement, and had bowled for over fifty years. Wilma died Sunday morning, January 13, 2013, at Nelson Manor Nursing Home in Newton, under the care of Skiff Hospice. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Rex in 1994, a son Ronald Rex "Dutch" Rorabaugh on Aug. 19, 1961; and her six brothers and sisters: Loren, Wayne and Merrill Murphy, Velma Adamson, Cleora Woods and Ilah Coil. Those left to honor Wilma's memory include her son David Rorabaugh and his wife Sally of Newton; her two granddaughters: Teri (Matt) Myers and Susan R. (Jesse) Altemeier; her grandson Chad (Tina) Rorabaugh; her six grandchildren: Gracie and Chloe Rorabaugh, Dalton and Madi Altemeier and Alex and Sammy Myers; and many friends.
