Obituary of Betty Jean DeBruyn

Betty Jean DeBruyn, 83, of Newton, passed away Monday, November 5, 2012, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, under the care of Skiff Hospice. Funeral services for Betty will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at the Pence - Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, rural Newton. Memorials are being designated in Betty's name to Skiff Hospice or Reasnor United Methodist Church, and may be left at the funeral home. Betty, the daughter of Clarance Elmer and Mable (Shelly) DeMoss, was born May 28, 1929, near Newton. She was a graduate of the Newton Senior High, Class of 1947. On September 7, 1947, Betty was united in marriage with Harold Blaine Lanphier. A lifelong resident of the Newton area, she was co-owner of a TV and Radio repair store, working in sales and service. Harold preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1987. Betty retired in 1992, after 20 plus years of serving Newton. She was united in marriage with Robert DeBruyn on May 23, 1997, in Newton. Betty had devoted her life to her family and friends, and was a member of the Reasnor United Methodist Church. She was a kind and warm hearted lady, and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Those left to honor Betty's memory include her sister Helen Reppond of Bulverde, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and her many friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: Harold and then Bob on March 13, 2011; and her three brothers: Carl, LeRoy and Francis DeMoss.
