Obituary of Michael Lee Metz

Michael Lee Metz, the son of Robert Joseph and Karyn Sue (VerDught) Metz, was born January 27, 1965 in Newton, Iowa. He graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 1983. On January 27, 1984, Mike was united in marriage with Sonya Lee Norris at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He worked as a machinist for Midwest Manufacturing in Kellogg. Mike enjoyed mushroom hunting, M*A*S*H, Gravedigger, three wheeling, watching thunderstorms, playing foosball and his 80's rock music. Mike died on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Skiff Hospice Monarch Wing in Newton, Iowa. He was 46 years old. Mike was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to honor Mike's memory include his wife, Sonya of Newton; his daughters, Amy Metz of Newton, Ashley (Dustin) Neer of Newton and Amanda (Cody) Rodenborn of Newton; his grandchildren, Austin, Haylee, Tamika, Jessamyn, Jaccob, Jalyssa; his sister, three brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many great friends. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be left in Mike's name to the Jacob Krumm Nature Preserve and may be left at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.
