Obituary of Robert Leroy Trotter

Memorial services for Robert "Bob" Trotter, will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Newton. The family will greet friends following the services at the church. Memorials designated in Bob's name to St. Stephen's or to Skiff Hospice may be left at the church or at Pence-Reese Funeral Home. Robert Leroy Trotter Sr., 76, the son of Arthur Alden and Mildred Christine (Karns) Trotter, was born January 15, 1935, in Newton. He attended Newton Schools. Bob was employed by the Maytag Company, retiring in 1989, in the paint department. On June 21, 1952, Bob was united in marriage with Phyllis Joan Talbot in Des Moines. He devoted his life to his family, and was a member of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and the UAW Retirees Union. Bob died on Sunday, September 11, 2011, in the Skiff Hospice Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Gloria in 2004; brothers: Art and Gene; and sisters: Lucille Westerfield, Mildred Hansen, Lela Jackson, Elsie Taylor and Annabelle Staker. Those left to honor the memory of Bob's include his wife Phyllis Joan; sons: Robert Jr. (Susan) Trotter of Chillicothe, MO, Ronald Trotter of Newton and Steven Trotter of Pella eight grandchildren: Josie (Scott) Koopmans, Brianna Trotter (Tyler Walker), Brian (Jenny) Springer, Michael Trotter, David Trotter, Donald Trotter, Bethany (Arber) Kucana, and Aaron Trotter; four great grandchildren: Adian Koopmans, Kirsten J. Walker, Lillian Springer and Jack Springer; a sisters-in-law Dorothy Trotter of Texas and Edythe "Polly" Malson of Newton and his many friends.
