Obituary of Charlotte D. Elliott

Charlotte D. Elliott the daughter of James and Lillian Bagnal Dunigan, was born September 28, 1917 in Lovilia, Iowa. Charlotte graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 1935. On October 16, 1937 Charlotte was united in marriage with Ray Elliott in Moberly, Missouri. She had worked for Winpower in the office, retiring in 1981. Charlotte enjoyed writing poetry, volunteering at Skiff Medical Center, bowling, golfing and socializing. She was a member of the Newton First Christian Church and Questers. Charlotte died on Friday, September 2, 2011. She was 93 years old. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Catherine and Margaret; brother, Mark and a brother in infancy. Those left to honor Charlotte's memory include her husband of over 73 years, Ray Elliott of Newton; her daughter, Kathie (Eugene) McWhirter of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; her sons, Dennis R. (Rosalie) Elliott of Council Bluffs, Iowa; James G. (Saundra) Elliott of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; her seven grandchildren, Rick (Vicki) Elliott, Nancy Elliott, Susan Davis, Matt (Katie) McWhirter, Melissa McWhirter, Kellie (Jeff) Kapparos, Monica Elliott; her six great grandchildren, Morgan Elliott, Caitlin Elliott, Daniel Crago, Nicole Davis, Erik Davis, Justin Davis, Chloe Kapparos, Aidan Kapparos; her sisters, Helen Snook of Newton and Alice Henderson of Waukee; and a cousin Virginia Williams. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10th at the First Christian Church in Newton. The family will greet friends following the service at the church.
