Obituary of Anna Mae Smith
Anna Mae Doland-Smith, the daughter of Arthur Crit and Zella Mae (Hembry) McDonald, was born April 18, 1938, in Barbourville, Kentucky. She attended school in Barbourville.
Anna retired from the Maytag Company, having worked in porcelain and assembly. She strove to provide for her children, Pamela, Raymond, James and Jackie.
On April 7, 1984, Anna was united in marriage with Kenneth A. Doland in Newton, Iowa. Kenny would precede her in death. On February 27, 2015, Anna was united with Gerald W. “Jerry” Smith in Purdin, Missouri. Anna loved her family. She enjoyed fishing and being outside as well as her many cups of coffee. Anna enjoyed traveling and activities with her Happy Harvesters church group. She enjoyed attending the Daniel Boone Festival. She also enjoyed traveling and attending tour concerts with Kenny.
Anna died Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Accura of Pleasantville. She was 86 years old. Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Doland; her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Smith; a daughter, Pamela Rackard; a son, Raymond Sutton, Jr.; a sister, June Van; and her brothers, Clifford McDonald and Charles McDonald.
Those left to honor Anna’s memory include her son, James Sutton (Joni Vest); her daughter, Jackie (Shane) Livengood; her eleven grandchildren; her eighteen great grandchildren, with one on-the-way and her three great-great grandchildren; her sisters, Emily Black and Faye Goodwin; her brother Arthur Melvin McDonald; and her little dog, Zoey.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the Pence Reese Funeral Home in Newton. A Facebook Live broadcast will begin at 1:30 on the funeral home Facebook page. A time of visitation with the family will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26th at the funeral home. Memorials may be designated in Anna’s name to the Newton Arboretum, Hospice, Cornerstone Bible Fellowship or any place of their choosing, and may be left at the funeral home. The family would especially like to thank the staff of Accura of Pleasantville as well as the many friends made; for their love showed to Anna.
