Janice Marie Rice, the daughter of William J. and Velma Katherine (Vriezelaar) Rice, was born May 24, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri. Janice graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 1974 and went on to receive an accounting degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Janice worked as a Certified Public Accountant for various accounting offices. Janice was united in marriage to Richard Shipman in 2008. Janice was had several interests which included gardening, her flowers, and a love for animals, especially dogs and cats. Janice died on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Newton Healthcare. She was preceded in death by a sister in infancy, Judith Ann Rice; and her parents, William and Velma Rice. Those left to remember Janice are her husband, Richard Shipman, a brother, Bob Fisher; a niece, Kristina Hamilton and family; a nephew, Nathaniel Fisher and family and other extended family. Burial will be at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe, Iowa. Memorials may be left in Janice's name to her husband, Richard Shipman and may be left at the Pence Reese Funeral Home.
