Obituary of Luanne Kay Chesshire

Luanne Kay Chesshire, the daughter of William James and Evelyn Irene (Harken) Keninger, was born August 1, 1949, in Hampton, Iowa. She graduated from Ackley-Genevia High School with the class of 1967.

On March 3, 1990, Luanne was united in marriage with John Wesley Chesshire at the First United Methodist Church in Newton, Iowa. She worked for the Maytag Company in sheet metal, retiring in 2007 with 29 years. Luanne was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. She enjoyed quilting, her flower garden and reading.

Luanne died on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center in Newton, Iowa. She was 74 years old. Luanne was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Kathy Bartling.

Those left to honor Luanne's memory include her husband, John; her Daughters, Jennifer (Andrew) Menke and Emily (Rick) Thompson; her sons, Shane Chesshire and Ian Chesshire; her grandchildren, Madelynn Drew Menke, Emma Luanne Menke, Brian Koon, Braeden Chesshire, Greyson Thompson, Tate Thompson, Asher Thompson, Quin Thompson, Ivy Thompson; her sisters, Jean (Randy) Strong and Jane (Steve) Wiertsema; her brothers, Mike ( Dee) Keninger, Dale (Debbi) Keninger, Jon (Teresa) Keninger, Kent (Audrea) Keninger and brother-in-law, Myrt Batling.

A funeral mass will be held, 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ackley, Iowa. The family will greet friends prior to the mass from 9:00 am until service time. A Facebook Live broadcast will begin at 10:00 am on the Pence Reese Funeral Home and Cremation Services Facebook page.
