Obituary of Randall Laverne Rawlins
Randall Laverne Rawlins was born on October 1, 1958, in Grinnell, Iowa. He was the beloved son of Archie Laverne and Shirley (Streeter) Rawlins. Randy graduated from Newton Senior High School with the class of 1977.
Throughout his life, Randy found joy in the simplicity of nature and the bonds of family. He dedicated many years to working at Maytag Dairy Farm in Newton and Jeld-Wen in Grinnell. An enthusiastic outdoorsman, Randy's love for hunting and fishing was unparalleled. He found solace in the great outdoors, cherishing each moment spent amidst nature's beauty.
Randy had a passion for NASCAR, country music, and the warmth of family gatherings. He loved his family, holding a special place in his heart for his nieces, nephews, and great-niece and nephew.
Randy died on May 16, 2024, at his home in Kellogg. He was preceded in death by his father, Archie and his mother and stepfather, Shirley and Franklin Barr, as well as his beloved grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Randy leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his sisters, Rhonda Rawlins, Joleen (Brad) Hansen, and Michelle Winther (Chad Garvis), along with his nieces and nephews: Shawna (Jesse) Sanders, Colton (Amber) Hansen, Clay Hansen, Kenna Winther, Camden (Olivia) Winther, and Bella Winther. His great-niece and nephew, Calen Sanders and Kinley Sanders, will fondly remember their Uncle DD.
In honoring Randy's memory, private family services will be held at a later date. Those wishing to pay their respects may designate memorials to the Kellogg Fire Department, with contributions accepted at the Pence Reese Funeral Home in Newton.
Randy will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his unwavering love for his family and his passion for the outdoors.
