Obituary of Betty Knopf
Betty Knopf, a woman who touched the lives of all who knew her, passed away on March 19, 2024, at the Newton Village Healthcare Center in Newton, Iowa. Born to Leland Joseph and Rose (Pacino) Northcott, Betty's journey began in Newton, where she eventually graduated from Newton Senior High School with the class of 1956.
On February 7, 1959, Betty embarked on a lifelong journey of love and devotion when she married Ernest Clyde "Ernie" Knopf at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton, Iowa. From that day forward, Betty dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her husband and family, embodying the true essence of love and sacrifice.
A devout member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Betty's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. However, her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her beloved family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her gentle spirit and unwavering love created cherished memories that will be forever treasured by those she leaves behind.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Ernie Knopf; her parents, Leland Joseph and Rose (Pacino) Northcott, and her brother, Doyle Northcott. She is survived by her son, Mark (Rhonda) Knopf, her daughters Kathy (Steve) Illingworth and Lynn (Mark) Lauber, and her grandchildren Ashley Illingworth and Joshua (Kayla) Illingworth, along with their children Jax Illingworth and Knox Illingworth.
A private family burial was held at Newton Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Betty's honor may be directed to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and can be left at the Pence Reese Funeral Home.
