I remember their beautiful farm south of Grinnell. Vi and Orv put in a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, to finally own and then maintain that beautiful farm. God really does help those who help themselves. And God never forgets.
"their" farm? What a joke. Guess ole Vi forgot it was the WHITAKER farm for over 100 years before she got the old man to leave it all to her. Heck it's not like Harold had any children, right?
Very sad to hear the passing of Orv. Our condolences to Vi and all the family. I certainly enjoyed the times that I was around him at the seed company loading trucks and the days I worked with him at the freight lines. He had great work ethics and a great sense of humor that made him fun to be around. Years later seeing him on tractor rides was a fun time of catching up and reminiscing. Certainly going to miss seeing him at the coffee shop, or stopping by their place for a quick chat, or seeing him out for a drive past our house.
You’ll be in our thoughts and prayers the next several days and weeks.
Vi I was so sorry to hear of Orville’s passing.
I have missed seeing you in Arizona during the winter. I want to extend my deepest sympathy to you and your family in your time of loss. May God comfort you
