Obituary of Ronald J McDermott

Ronald J. McDermott, 73, the son of Paul Joseph and Virginia Frances (Yancey) McDermott, was born November 23, 1950, in Newton, Iowa.  He attended Newton Community Schools.  Graduating from Newton Senior High, Class of 1969. 

  On December 22, 1980, Ron was united in marriage with Candace Rose Andersen in Newton.  Ron was employed as a Die Cast Setter for the Maytag Company in Newton, retiring in 2005.  He enjoyed riding motorcycles 44 years, his Harley Sportster.  He and Candy had attended the Newton Salvation Army Citadel Church. 

  Ron died on Monday morning, January 15, 2024, in Newton.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother John. 

  The Pence~Reese Funeral Home, in Newton, is handling the arrangement.  A Celebration Life may be held at a later date. 

  Those left to honor Ron’s memory include his wife Candy; a brother Larry; his sister Marvene; several nieces and nephews; and his many extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Ron’s family or a charity of your choosing.
