Obituary of Marjorie Eileen Ferguson
Marjorie Eileen Hull Ferguson, 103, formerly of Newton, passed away September 7, 2023 in Fort Wayne, IN.
She was born December 4, 1919, in New Sharon, IA to Walter and Dorothy Eileen Hill Lee. She graduated (1937) from New Sharon High School and later from Capital City Commercial College (1938) in Des Moines, IA receiving a stenographic degree. She was a member of Alpha Lambda Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority as well as Methodist churches in Sun City, AZ and Newton, IA.
She married Dr. Joseph Palmer Hull on May 12, 1940, in Des Moines, IA who later died in 1964. She married Stuart Ferguson of Newton, IA on April 17, 1988. They moved to Glendale, AZ in 1992 until October 2002 when they moved to Fort Wayne, IN. Stuart passed away January 5, 2003.
Marjorie worked two years (1938-1940) at State Finance Company in Des Moines as a secretary. She was later employed at the Jasper County Savings Bank in Newton, IA in the Installment Loan Dept (1965). She was also secretary to former presidents Arnold Peters, Donald Runger and Denis Wilcox from 1965 until her retirement on May 19, 1986. She was appointed Administrative Officer in 1975. Marjorie also held the office of Secretary and Assistant Treasurer of Anita Bancorporation. She also was the In-Bank Chairman of the Newton Community Chest Drive in 1975.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph Hull in 1964, son Franklin Hull in 1987, husband Stuart Ferguson in 1988,. She is survived by her daughter, Priscilla Lou Kreager (Michael), two grandchildren, Michelle Hurd (Kelly) and Brad Kreager, five great grandchildren and three great step grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5p.m. until 7p.m., Friday, September 15, 2023, at the Pence – Reese Funeral Home in Newton, who has been entrusted with the arrangements. Graveside services will be 10:00a.m., Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Newton Union Cemetery.
