Obituary of Ruth Sylvia Sharp

Ruth Sylvia Sharp, of Newton, Iowa, the daughter of Reuel and Dena (Kreager) Jackson, was born January 28, 1932, in Omaha, Nebraska.  She was a graduate of the Newton, Iowa, Senior High, Class of 1950.

   On July 16, 1986, Ruth was united in marriage to Thomas D. Sharp in Newton.  She was the church secretary, for 30 plus years, at the First United Methodist Church in Newton.  She was a member of the PEO and the Newton First Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed all music, was very active in the church and the community.  She had sung for many weddings and funerals over the years. 

   Ruth died on Monday morning, March 6, 2023, in Newton.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Gordon Jackson.  Pence – Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements.

   Funeral services for Ruth will be 1:30 pm, Friday, March 10, 2023, at the First Lutheran Church in Newton, with a coffee time and visitation to fellow.

   Those left to honor Ruth’s memory include her husband Tom; her sister-in-law JoAnn Jackson; her nephew Jeff (Donna) Jackson; a special cousin Jane McDaniel; and her many extended family and friends.
