Obituary of Robert Russell McCloney

Robert Russell McCloney, the son of Clyde Russell and Ava Louise (Culbertson) McCloney, was born February 20, 1946, in Osceola, Iowa.  He graduated from the Osceola Senior High School with the class of 1964.  Bob served in the United States Army.

On January 24, 1969, Bob was united in marriage with Sandra Jean Beeman in Osceola, Iowa.  Bob worked for People’s Abstract in Des Moines, Iowa and Jasper County Abstract Company in Newton, Iowa.  He opened and operated United Land Title in Newton, Iowa in 1988, retiring in 2018.  Bob and Sandy enjoyed fishing and traveling and playing cards together.  He was a past president of the Iowa Land Title Association.  Bob was also a longtime member of the Newton Elk’s Lodge.

Bob died on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Newton Healthcare Center.  He was 77 years old.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Sandy on May 13, 2017.

Those left to honor Bob’s memory include his daughters, Jennifer (Cory) Beals of Melbourne, IA, Jodi (Craig) Aldrich of Pleasant Hill, IA, and Jaime McCloney of Willow Springs, NC; his grandchildren, Alex Auten, Tanner Beals, Abby Aldrich, Quinton Stevens, Josephine Aldrich, Tyler Aldrich, Emileigh Beals, Jackson Scarboro and Isabelle Beals and his sister, Betty (McCloney) Dickey.

A visitation with the family will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday March 5, 2023, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.

Memorials may be designated in Bob’s name to St. Croix Hospice and may be left at the funeral home.
