Obituary of Glennys Ann Ward

Glennys Ann Ward, 82, of Newton, the daughter of Lyle M. and Mildred (Billman) Turner, was born May 8, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, IA.  She attended the Newton Community Schools and graduated from Newton Senior High School, with the Class of 1958. 

   On July 23, 1961, Glennys was united in marriage to Harold LeRoy Ward in Newton.  She was employed as a waitress at the Maid Rite and later as a Hostess at the Terrace Inn. 

   Glennys enjoyed bowling with the Jasper County Bowling League and decorating her picture window at her home, and was a member of Community Heights Alliance Church. 

   Glennys died Tuesday afternoon, January 17, 2023, at Accura Healthcare East of Newton.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Harold on September 4, 2008; and a sister Carolyn Porter. 

   A Funeral services will be held at Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton, 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2023, with visitation with the family at the funeral home for an hour, just prior to the services.   Memorial can be given to the Community Alliance Church. 

   Those left to honor the memory of Glennys’ include her sisters: Barb Gray of Newton and Suzanne Turner-Nail of Des Moines; her brother Delbert “Del” Turner of Newton; her best friends Ivan and Nancy Terpstra; several nieces and nephews; and her many extended family and friends.
