Obituary of Evalyn Lorraine Wilson

Evalyn Wilson, 94, died on March 14, 2022, at her home in Minneapolis. Evalyn was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Wilson; grandchildren: Josie, Gena, and Danny; her parents and siblings.
Her family and her Catholic faith were of utmost importance to her. She was an artist, homemaker, and Secular Franciscan. She was an active volunteer through her church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, providing rides, packing food for the food bank, bringing the Eucharist to the home-bound, and teaching religious education. As a Secular Franciscan minister, she provided formation and leadership for her Secular Franciscan order. In later years, she decorated all the public spaces in her senior apartment building and spent much time praying for people near and far. Pence – Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Evalyn is survived by her children, Linda (Mike) Foster, Rita (Mark) Ayers, and John Wilson; grandchildren, Michael, Angela, Steven, Jessica, Matthew, and Ezekiel; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as her extended relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
A funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Newton, Iowa, on Friday, April 1st at 1:00 pm, with a short Secular Franciscan service preceding at 12:00 pm. {Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that facemasks be worn.}
Due to covid concerns, no reception will be held at this time. A family celebration will be held at a later date. Memorials may be donated to the charity of your choice.
