Betty L. Avey, 81, was born August 17, 1940, the daughter of William Henry and Verlee (Holt) Ellerbe. She was a high school graduate.
She enjoyed family and devoted her life to family and her friends. She was employed in housekeeping at area hospitals and for Holiday Inn in Des Moines. Betty will be missed by all those who knew her.
Betty passed from this life on Monday afternoon, February 28, 2022, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Helen Hanson; a brother Jack Ellerbe; a nephew Danny and a niece Mary.
Betty is survived by her daughters Dianna Leinen and Lorrie Avey; her sons: Bill Avey and Kevin Avey; grandson Bronson Leinen; several nieces and nephews and her many extended family and friends.
A time of remembrance and celebration of life for Betty will be at a later date. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton, is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Betty's family (make payable to Dianna Leinen).
