Obituary of Clarence Edward Simatovich
Clarence Edward Simatovich, the son of Andrew and Hazel Elizabeth (Walton) Simatovich, was born October 26, 1946 in Centerville, Iowa. He graduated from the Centerville Senior High School and attended Indian Hills College. Following his time at Indian Hills, Clarence served his country in the United States Army.
On December 26, 1971, Clarence was united in marriage with Iona Jeanne Showers in Centerville, Iowa. Clarence worked for the Maytag Company in Newton. He retired after 37 years from the Tool and Die Department. Clarence enjoyed working on his classic cars and attending classic car shows. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local #997 retiree’s union.
Clarence died on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was 74 years old. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Andrew; and a niece.
Those left to honor Clarence’s memory include his wife; one child and daughter-in-law; a step granddaughter; a step great grandson; one brother, Ron; and one sister, Vicki Palmer and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Funeral Home. Masks are encouraged and social distancing will be practiced. A Facebook Live broadcast of the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be designated in Clarence’s name and may be left at the funeral home.
