Obituary of Madonna Ruth Lindauer
Madonna Ruth Lindauer, the daughter of Peter James and Cecelia Margaret (Kuehn) Kurth, was born May 21, 1939 in Madison, Wisconsin. Madonna was a lifelong resident of Madison. She attended school and earned her Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Continuing Adult Vocational Education.
On November 28, 1960, Madonna was united in marriage with Richard David Lindauer in Madison, Wisconsin. Madonna devoted her life to her husband and family. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Madison. Madonna enjoyed playing bridge and her coffee groups. She enjoyed traveling with her family to Hawaii, Ireland, Florida and Door County, Wisconsin. Madonna also volunteered to read at Midvale Elementary, for many years.
Madonna died on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa, with family at her side. She was 81 years old. Madonna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard; a daughter, Mary Jean Lindauer; two sisters and her five brothers.
Those left to honor Madonna’s memory include her son, Kevin Lindauer; her daughters, Julie Lindauer and Laura (Paul) Essen; her grandchildren, Kiley Essen and Ryan Essen; and her sister, Janet Jewell.
A celebration of Madonna’s life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be designated to the Queen of Peace Catholic Church; the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society; or Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, Iowa has been entrusted with the arrangements.
