Obituary of Randy C. Mikesell, Sr.

Randy C. Mikesell, Sr., the son of William George and Fayette Ruth (Vander Linden) Mikesell, was born August 27, 1960, in Chariton, Iowa.  He attended Newton schools.  Randy worked as a painter for various contractors in the community.  On January 11, 2003, Randy was united in marriage with Donna Jo Roberts in Newton, Iowa.  Randy enjoyed spending time outdoors.  He spent time hunting, fishing, boating, kayaking, and camping.  He was a fan of NASCAR, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Dallas Cowboys.  Randy relished time spent with his family, his grandkids and riding his motorcycle with Donna.

Randy passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at his home in Newton.  He was 60 years old.  Randy was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons, Ethan Mikesell and Evan Mikesell.

Those left to honor Randy’s memory include his wife, Donna Jo Mikesell; his daughter, Alisha Johnston; his sons, Randy Mikesell, Jr., Eric (Amanda) Roberts and Jeremy Roberts; his grandchildren, Nicholas Mikesell, Kaylee Winchell, Leah Johnston, Odan Oneill, Achillies Oneill and Collin Shepherd; and his  two brothers, Jack Mikesell and Billy (Stacy) Mikesell.

Funeral services will be held, Monday, January 11, 2021 at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.  Masks are required and social distancing will be practiced.  A Facebook Live Broadcast will begin at 10:30 am, Monday, January 11^th on the Pence Reese Funeral Home & Cremation Services Facebook page.  A public visitation with the family will be held from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, Sunday, January 10^th at the funeral home.  Masks are required and social distancing will be practiced.  Memorials may be designated in Randy’s name and may be left at the funeral home.
