Obituary of Marjorie Viola Tiedje

Marjorie V. Tiedje was born November 17, 1918, near McCallsburg, the daughter of Harrison and Anna (Larson) Huntrod. She attended the Colfax area schools. On December 31, 1938, Marjorie was united in marriage with Lawrence E. Tiedje in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. A longtime resident of the Newton area, she was employed by J.J. Newberry Company, and retired from Denniston Partridge Company, after 27 years of service. Marjorie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She enjoyed running the Skiff Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop for many years and volunteering at the hospital. She was a member of the Colfax Methodist Church. Marjorie is survived by her daughter-in-law Carole Watt of Stanwood, WA; her two grandsons: Tim Tiedje and Scott Tiedje; her sister, Ruth Mallory; and her many good neighbors and friends. Marjorie, died Friday, August 21, 2020, at MercyOne Medical Center in Newton. She was 101 years old. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lawrence in 1999; her son; and her sisters. There are no services planed at this time, and the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with these arrangements. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the MercyOne Newton Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary and may be left at the funeral home.
