Obituary of Carol Ann Davis

Carol Ann Davis, 74, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, February 1st, 2020. She was born March 22, 1945 to Ralph and Alta Mae Gullett in Los Angeles, CA. The family moved to Iowa in 1949. Carol graduated from Newton Senior High School, Newton, IA in 1963. She married the love of her life, David Davis, September 4th, 1965. They made their home in Lambs Grove, IA. Carol worked at Maytag in the purchasing department from 1963 to 1968, at which time she became the Secretary and later the co-owner of Davis Advertising until her retirement in 2008. She was also a member of the Newton JC's Club. Carol moved to Poplar Grove, IL after her husband's passing in 2010. She was the kindest soul and she was loved by all that knew her. Carol spent her time cooking and baking, gardening, crafting and loved spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren, and enjoying time at her lake home in Northern Minnesota. Carol was proceeded in death by her parents, Ralph and Alta Mae Gullett, her brother, Cliff Gullett, and her husband, David Q. Davis. Those left to honor her are her two daughters, Debbie (Jeff) Miller, of Newton, and Christy (Matt) Wlodek, of Poplar Grove, IL. Sister-in-law Margaret Gullett, of Newton. Her 4 grandchildren, Kelsey (Damon) Daugherty, of Ottumwa, Lauren Miller (Broc Pearson), of Newton, Josh Miller of Newton, and Macee Whisenand, of Poplar Grove. Also 2 step-grandchildren, Taylor and Dylan Wlodek of Carpentersville, IL. Four Nephews and family. Gary & Liz Gullett, of Byron, IL, Larry & Connie Gullett of Iowa City, IA, Dave & Lori Gullett, of Castle Rock, CO, and Mark Gullett also of Castle Rock. She was also blessed with 2 Great-grandchildren, James and Stella Daugherty, of Ottumwa. There will be a visitation to honor her life Friday, February 7th, 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, IA. Any Memorial in Carol's name can be given in care of her family. The Family wishes to extend their gratitude to Mercy Hospice of IL.
