Thank you Mr. Ratcliff for teaching me and my peers the power of critical thinking (disguised as a history class)...what a gift! Your legacy is a powerful one.

Just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss of Mr. Ratcliff...I was overwhelmed by the respect and admiration I read in the other condolences. He was obviously very loved and will be very missed. Please know that God longs for the time when Roger will be resurrected as a vibrant young man, perfect in mind and spirit and in a perfect paradise earth(Rev 21:4). Until that time, many thoughts and prayers for all who mourn him.

My condolences to the Ratcliff family.
Mr. Ratcliff was the model of what an inspirational teacher can be. Along with the content he was teaching he intertwined teaching responsibility and respect. As I look at the responses from people from all over the country, I think it can be said that Mr. Ratcliff made a difference in many lives in Newton, Iowa and thus a difference in the world.
Thank you Mr. Ratcliff

One of my favorite teachers - knowledgeable, creative, and inspiring. I was fortunate to renew my relationship with Roger during visits with my mom at Park Centre. He left behind a great legacy.

Hello, Just want to give you my condolence and tell you that Mr. Ratcliff was my favorite English teacher in 1955. I am now 80yrs and still remember how very nice he was to me. At that teen age time, it was difficult and my memory tells me he was very understanding. May the Lord watch over you.

Mr. Ratcliff was a inspirational teacher for me in high school. Still remember him driving the point about “facts” and how it’s not what you want to see but what is indisputable. I was also in his psychology course and the introduction to behavior modification. I credit him for equipping me for study at university. Am so grateful for having had a great teacher.
My condolences to the Ratcliff family on their loss.

Jane and family, your dad lived a rich, fill life and you were such a great daughter to both your parents. May sweet memories of both parents sustain you as you adjust to life without them in your life. A heavenly reunion awaits! God bless you and your family. Deb

I have known Mr. Ratcliff most of my life. I was friends with his Scott through grade school, high school and college. Mr.Ratcliff was my high school history teacher and I have always thought of him as the best teacher I ever had. We were fortunate to have wonderful high school teachers and I thought Mr. Radcliffe was exceptional and inspirational. He Helped me to develop an inquisitive learning style that serves me to this day. I told him once ( maybe even twice) how well I thought of him as a teacher and I’m glad I did. I had the fortune to see him at Park Centre many times while my mother was there and I enjoyed seeing him. He had not changed. I am very sad that he is gone. I am so happy to have known him. My sympathy to his family. ( Hi Scott).

Dear Sally & Family,
So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. He was the first & only history teacher I had who made it interesting. All those Dynasties that I hated, came to life under his teaching. I've been interested ever since 11th grade...that's a long time. He was wonderful & I'll never forget his kindness.
Thank you for sharing your father!

I remember Mr. Ratcliff and Mr. Poe co-teaching history. Although not a history fan at the time, I still recall their "Digging the We-uns", an unexpected way to make history more interesting. It must have worked for me to recall it so many years later.

Mr. Ratcliff was my teacher at Newton High School. I remember his class well and have used his lessons many times. I was a subject of my sister's project in his class, trying to keep me from twirling my hair! He affected many of us. Prayers to his family and friends.
