Obituary of Carolyn Mac Mayhew-Nimmo-Livengood
Carolyn Mac Mayhew-Nimmo-Livengood, the daughter of Joseph Alexexander and Alice Mae (Shaw) Mayhew, was born October 6, 1934 in Newton, Iowa. She graduated from the Newton Senior High with the class of 1952 then went on to graduate from the University of Kansas City.
Carolyn married Howard Arthur Nimmo at the First United Methodist Church in Newton, Iowa. Carolyn enjoyed being a stay at home mom as she raised her children. She had also worked outside the home for the State of Iowa, as a co-owner for Champion Auto Parts in Perry, IA, for Charles Gabus Ford and Clayton Brokerage. On February 14, 2005, Carolyn was united in marriage with Harold Wayne Livengood.
Carolyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton. She enjoyed reading, watching t.v., playing piano, listening to bluegrass and country music, dancing, cooking traveling, needle point and gardening.
Carolyn died on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Accura of Newton West. She was 83 years old. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Howard; her son Gregg Nimmo; one granddaughter and one grandson.
Those left to honor Carolyn’s memory include her husband, Wayne Livengood; her son, Bruce (Sheila) Nimmo; her daughters, Brenda Nimmo, Laura (Randy) Keasey and Linda (Ken) Cook; her eight grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
The family will greet friends from 10:00 until 12:00 a.m. Monday at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton during visitation and lunch. Memorials may be designated in Carolyn’s name and may be left at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home
