Obituary of Steven Eugene McGinley

Steven Eugene McGinley, the son of Maurice Gene and Louise (Deaton) McGinley, was born May 3, 1950 in Newton, Iowa.  Steven graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 1968.

On May 10, 1968, Steven was united in marriage with Bonnie Jean Failor at the Congregational United Church of Christ in newton, Iowa.  Steven worked for the Maytag Company as a computer operator and in payroll.  He retired in 1992.  Steven enjoyed his garden, pets, fish, dancing, cooking, horseback riding and most of all, his family.

Steven died on Friday, August 11, 2017 at his home in Newton.  He was 67 years old.  Steven was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to honor Steven’s memory include his wife, Bonnie McGinley of Newton; his children and their families: Cameron (Jill) McGinley of Pella, IA and their family, Alexis, Ridge, Reid and Cade; Collette Holmquist of Lake Mary, FL and her family, Breana and Josi; Clarissa (Chris) Wing of Newton, IA and their family, Caitlyn (James) Reeder and her children, James and Easton; Cainan McGinley of Newton, IA; Collin (Liz) McGinley of El Paso, TX and their family, Dayanara, Daniah, Penelope; Coridan (Jennifer) McGinley of West Des Moines, IA and their family, Clark; Caleb McGinley of Newton, IA; Craynes McGinley of West Des Moines, IA and Terry Beck of Des Moines, IA; his sister, Nancy (Jack) Clarke of Castle Rock, Co and his brother, Mickey (Karen) McGinley of Newton, IA.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Newton.  The family will greet friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until service time.  Memorials may be designated to the Congregational Church and may be left at the church or at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.
