Obituary of Dorothy May Reames
Dorothy of Newton, died Friday morning, April 28, 2017, at Newton Village Health Care.
Dorothy May Reames, 99, was born June 25, 1917, near Newton, the daughter of Levi Marion and Minerva Edna (Jennings) Stevens. She attended rural country school.
On November 1, 1945, Dorothy was united in marriage with Ernest Andrew Reames in Centerville. She devoted her life to her family. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandma, great-great grandma. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She was a member of the Newton New Life Community Church of the Nazarene, was missionary treasurer and taught Sunday School, and enjoyed embroidering, reading and gardening.
Dorothy is survived by her son Kenneth (Coni) Reames of Oklahoma City, OK; daughters: Edna Mary (Jim) Zimmer of Olathe, KS and Sharon Mae (Steve) Longacre of Newton; her seven grandchildren: Brian (Mandy) Longacre, Melissa (David) Coffman, Stacy (Eric) Dorsey, Kendra (Ross) Musick, Rachelle Theel, Monica (Scott) Pritchard and Matt (Jeni) Zimmer; twenty two great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; ten nieces and nephews; and her many good neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest on March 10, 1998; her three sisters, one brother and a brother in infancy.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 1, 2017, at the Newton New Life Community Church of the Nazarene, with a visitation at the church, an hour prior to the services. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with the arrangements. There will be a lunch at the church, following the commital services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Dorothy's family, Church of the Nazarene or Hospice.
