Dorothy A. Wheeler
Dorothy A. Wheeler died Saturday evening, February 25, 2017, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton, under the care of Hospice.
Dorothy Ann "Dodie" Wheeler, 83, was born January 13, 1934, in Grinnell, the daughter of Charles William and Elizabeth (Simmon) Kelly, she was a high school graduate of the St. Mary's Academe in Nauvoo, IL.
On February 2, 1956, Dorothy was united in marriage with Robert W. Wheeler in Newton, this union was blessed with two daughters, Melinda and LuAnn. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Dorothy devoted her life to her family and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters: Melinda Fraser of Forest City and LuAnn Wheeler of Newton; her four grandchildren: Nicholas & Matthew Henning and Jessica & Joshua Runnels; and her sister Mary Bogaards of Grinnell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert; and her brothers and sister: Charles Kelly, Joe Kelly, Evelyn Kellenberger and Jerry Kelly.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a Vigil Services at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The Funeral Mass will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 3, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
