Dear Barbara: I use to live in Sully and was friends of the Wisgerhof family. Kay was a dear friend until her death. Ken was a bit older but always knew of him and about him. Kirk was younger but close in age to my brother Chas. I heard of the death of Ken and then Kirk very recently. So many tragedies in that family. Would so much love to sit down and chat about all of them and my memories. My brother Chas and I would like very much if you would send Kirk's obituary to the Home Town Press in Sully so that the people of Sully who knew that family would know about Kirk. I was so happy to know that Ken had a relationship with our Lord as Christianity was not a part of their family. You must have had an amazing influence on him. Blessings to you as you lead your life without your soulmate. I would welcome any correspondence from you if you so wish. Martha Ebbers

A very fine warrior has fallen with Ken Wisgerhof's passing, and I am very sorry to hear it. Ken and I grew up in Sully, Iowa together and lived only a block away most of the time. We played many sports on the school grounds near by as grade schoolers, and then with Sully High until Ken's transfer to Newton. We hunted, fished, and even had a gopher trapping "enterprise" for a few years as youngsters. Ken was a great athlete who was a tough as anyone could be. He was highly regarded in the community as was his entire family. My sympathies are with his wife Barbara and his family. May God's perfect love be with each.

Wish I would have known Ken was ill and I would have visited him when I was home last April. I have many fond memories of him and Mike and hanging out with your family years ago. It's so very hard to lose someone but when they're at peace it's sets your mind at ease. We all will miss that great smile be had, take care. Hugs, Mickie

There a very few men for whom I have had a real and true relationship with that has come to me by true 'Grace" and the willingness to be as good as they just might have hoped for to be of a complement to their efforts on my behalf. Ken was a teammate, and a good one. He lead by example, was a gifted as an athlete as any one of us from the Newton Nite Hawks Pro Football team and learned to help us that came after the team had been formed to be of that same level that those that shaped the team and its championship persona expected.
He did represent to me the 'community' that made Newton so very special along with those teammates who came from Newton and had grown up there and the surrounding communities. They have been and will always be the root of my journey that has come full and fruitful and has been as constant feed to my well-being to try to live well and remind those on my journey of my "teammates", their families, and the love from the community that we represented far and wide. There is no greater reward than to thank the Lord this day for the life of my teammate and its blessing to and for me and my own. In His Name...Amen.
