Obituary of Karl Fredrick Dammeier

Karl F. Dammeier Newton Funeral services for Karl F. Dammeier, 89, of Newton, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home of Newton. A visitation will be at the funeral home 5:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday. Memorials to: Hospice of Jasper County. Karl Fredrick Dammeier, the son of Frederick and Emma (Steiglitz) Dammeier, was born September 4, 1919 in Newton. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High, Class of 1939. Karl farmed for several years, and later a trucker, hauling livestock for Vic Klopping, for forty years. On July 7, 1946, Karl was united in marriage with Martha Marie Beukema in Newton. He was a member of the United Church of Christ of Baxter and Farm Bureau, and enjoyed traveling, trains and country music. Karl died on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Heritage Manor Care Center in Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Martha on Nov. 15, 2008; his three sisters and brothers-in-law; a niece; and two nephews. Those left to honor Karl's memory include his many nieces and nephews; and his many good neighbors and friends. Pastor Rollie Watters, of Baxter officiating. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery, Newton on Saturday at 10:30 am. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Jasper County
