Ronald Morris of Newton passed from this life on Friday afternoon, July 22, 2016, at Park Centre in Newton.
Ronald R. Morris, 79, the son of J.P. and Okle Collins (Hurley) Morris, was born March 5, 1937, at the hospital in Grinnell. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High, Class of 1955, and later attended Morningside College in Sioux City, IA.
On October 27, 1956, Ron was united in marriage with Nancy Carole Sprague at the Presbyterian Church in Newton. Raised in Newton, he was employed as a car salesman for Axtell Ford, and General Sales Manager for Maples Chevrolet, retiring after 32 years, in 2002. After retirement, he and Nancy spent 6 months in Arizona and 6 months at their lake home at Lake Ponderosa. Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, he will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge, enjoyed all sports and the Iowa Hawkeyes, but golf was his passion
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Darrell, Carl, Cliff and Bob Hurley.
Ron is survived by his wife Nancy; sons: Jerry (Cindy) Morris of Newton, Doug (Toni) Morris of Carlsbad, CA and Steve Morris of Kansas City, Missouri; his daughters: Rhonda (Jeff) Rose of Clive and DeAnn Hecht (Jim Grife) of Mitchellville; his eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister Marge Herbrandt of Newton; and many friends and golf buddies.
There are no services planned at this time for Ron. Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements. Nancy and the rest of the family would like to thank WesleyLife Hospice for the wonderful and loving care they gave Ron and his family.
