Obituary of Kenneth R Meyer

Kenneth R. Meyer Kenneth of Newton passed from this life on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at the Montezuma Specialty Care. Kenneth R. Meyer, 74, was born August 29, 1941, in Gibbon, Minnesota, the son of Arnold W. and Viola E. (Miller) Meyer. He was a high school graduate and later attended a Trade School in Minnesota. On May 27, 1960, Kenneth was united in marriage with Sharron L. Nielsen in Minneapolis, MN, where they lived until 1971, and moved to Newton. To this union two children were born. For many years, Kenneth was employed as a carpenter and in building maintenance. Kenneth was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will be greatly missed by those who knew him. He was a member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Newton. Kenneth is survived by his daughter Victoria E. Meyer of Cedar Rapids; a son Scott D. (Lee) Meyer of Sterling, VA; his four grandchildren: Kenley, Patrick, Melatha and Emily; brothers: Gerald (Beverly) Meyer, Willmar (Rosemary) Meyer, and Dennis Meyer; sisters-in-law: Norma Meyer, Patricia Putz and Martha Saenz; a brother-in-law John Grush; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sharron on Aug. 4, 2008; and a brother Richard Meyer. A time of remembrance and the funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at the Pence – Reese Funeral Home in Newton, with a visitation one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in Kenneth's name with his family or a charity of your choosing.
